Mission Statement
Our Mission is to provide support and information to further enhance the education of women in computing and information technology at Indiana University.
Women in computing is broadly interpreted to be inclusive of women in computing disciplines inside and outside the School of Informatics, and inclusive of faculty, graduate, undergraduate, and technical staff. To achieve the goals in our mission statement, we provide:
- A forum for issues pertaining to women in computing
- Networking and mentoring opportunities
- Teamwork and leadership opportunities
- Professional development through education and interaction with industry
- Community outreach

History of Women in Informatics and Computing
WIC at Indiana University was founded in the Spring of 2002. It has since grown to include a large number of students, faculty, and staff members, from the departments of Computer Science, Informatics, and the School of Library and Information Science (SLIS).
