uWIC Presents: WORK IT GIRL!

This event is to help you get ready for the women's reception the morning of the career fair. Kate Caldwell, the SOIC Director of Career Services, will teach you how to "work the floor", impress your interviewers, and get the most out of the Women in IT Reception. Lite snacks will be provided.

Cultural Harvest: A Potluck Dinner

Come share your favorite fall food with others at the PIT Crew and WIC's Cultural Harvest Potluck! Please bring your favorite holiday dish, or a local dish from where you are from. You aren't required to bring anything, but we'd love to try a dish from your home! Check out the Facebook group here.

4th Annual WIC Pumpkin Carving

Took place Tuesday, October 30th

Undergraduate and Graduate SOIC Women gathered in the Lindley Abyss to carve pumpkins for Halloween. Thanks to everyone who came out. Over 20 pumpkins were carved!

Promoting Inclusivity in Technology: movie, food, and discussion!

Wednesday, September 26th: Informatics Rm 150

The PIT crew (promoting inclusivity in technology) is having an event! We're going to watch the movie Mean Girls and have a discussion on microinequities within the film. What are microinequities you might ask? You'll find out if you come to the event! We would love for everyone to show up and take part in watching a movie and having a worthwhile discussion. There's going to be free pizza so come participate in this fun event!

uWIC's Welcome Networking Event

Took place Friday, September 7th



The first uWIC event of the semester was a great success, thanks to the many undergraduate women who attended. Mocktails and finger foods were served, along with some lovely Pinterest creations. The women enjoyed networking with each other and learning more about uWIC.





Graduate Women in Informatics and Computing Networking Event

Took place Wednesday, August 29th



August 29th was the first WIC event of the semester. Our graduate women enjoyed getting to know one another and eating great food. Thanks to everyone who attended!







2012 InWIC Conference

McCormick's Creek state Park

42 women from the School of Informatics and Computing attended the 2012 Indiana Women in Computing Conference, held at McCormick's Creek State Park. A total of 150 faculty,student, and corporate colleagues participated in networking events, poster sessions, lightning talks, keynote addresses, career related events, and panels on such topics as Imposter Syndrome.Congratulations to research poster winner Shirin Nilizadeh, SOIC PhD student in Informatics, who received a full scholarship to attend the 2012 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing Conference. Suzanne Menzel and Maureen Biggers served as co-chairs for the conference.
